Message from Director of IQTM 
I welcome you all at one of the most prestigious, largest and highest school of learning of the country. It is the place where thousands of students wish to get admission in the degree program and very limited number of students are accepted for admission.
Pakistan’s Industrial and Service sector face serious challenges due to
development of free market and globalization. In order to meet these
challenges, The University of the Punjab conceived the idea of setting up a
Quality Management Division under the Faculty of Engineering in November
2001. The Quality Management Division started its program in March 2002 in
the shortest possible time due to the commitment and dedication of the Worthy
Vice Chancellor of the University of the Punjab, Dean of Faculty of Engineering& Technology and Head of Quality Management Division and his staff. The
Quality Management Division was upgraded to the status of an Institute and
was named as Institute of Quality and Technology Management in August
2004. The up-gradation was possible due to the performance and continual
improvement in offered courses.
These courses offered under IQTM have been specially designed for
professionals from the field of science and technology to prepare them for
administrative and managerial positions and equip them with latest quality
management tools and techniques. The programs offer a comprehensive
package that cover full range of quality, production and management concepts.
The qualified graduate of this unique program are improving the quality of
national products and services, and are contributing for elevating the level of
expertise in private as well as public sector in Pakistan.
Institute of Quality and Technology Management strives towards continual
improvement. During the first quarter of year 2003, the Institute of Quality and
Technology Management launched Ph.D. program in the field of Total Quality Management. M.S. Total Quality Management (Medicines) was also started “M.Sc. Quality Management” was also upgraded to “M.S. Total Quality Management” in 2003. In the year 2004, a four years course for F.Sc. qualified students, leading to B.S. (Hons) Industrial Management was launched. The
B.S. (Hons) Industrial Management course was upgraded to B.Sc. Industrial
Engineering & Management in the year 2006. In the field of training, IQTM is
running short and certificate courses in the field of Quality Management and
other allied field.
The future plan is to have sustainable growth in the field of Quality and
Technology Management and offer consultancy services to industry and
business sectors at minimal costs and to provide career development service to
our students.
I believe that the opportunity to undertake undergraduate and postgraduate study at the university of the punjab is a privilege as well as challenge, and I hope you will accept the challenge that lies before you. The course work will offer you the chance of study under close and careful supervision of our highly qualified and competent faculty members for the development of your professional excellence through the class rooms, special seminars, practical works in laboratories and training in the reputed industrial organizations.
Institute of Quality & Technology Management is the only institution in the country which offers courses from undergraduate to Ph.D level in the most modern areas of Industrial Engineering & Management and trains its students to the highest level. We are not limited to available regular faculty of the university but the leading business personalities and management celebrities spent their valuable time with our students.
We have many plans of research and development in near future. Some of new degrees are in the process of curriculum designing and system development phases.
